Season End & Dynasty

How a season wraps up, and how keeper and dynasty leagues carry on.

How a Season Ends

Every season has a last matchweek. In a head-to-head league, the season wraps up on its own as soon as the final matchup has been played. The final table is locked in, the team ranked first is crowned champion, and the league moves into the offseason.

Renew or Archive

The trophy has been handed out, so what's next? That's up to the commissioner. You can run it back for another season, or archive the league as a record of what happened.

End-of-season choices
ChoiceWhat happens
Renew (redraft league)Rosters are cleared, budgets reset, standings go back to zero, and a fresh draft is set up.
Renew (dynasty league)Teams keep their keepers, and only the open spots are drafted.
ArchiveThe league is frozen as a read-only record. It can be renewed later.

Renewing needs the next season's fixtures to be ready, and puts the league back into preseason, ready for its next draft.

Keeper and Dynasty Leagues

Most fantasy leagues start fresh every year, which is called a redraft league. A dynasty league is different. It carries on from one season to the next, so the team you build this year is the team you start from next year, and you can spend several seasons shaping a squad. The Immersive preset is a dynasty league, and any league can be set up as one.

The big idea is the keeper: a player you choose to hold on to, instead of putting him back in the pool for everyone to draft again.

  • Choosing keepers: in the offseason, each team picks its keepers from the Squad page. Keepers have to come from your final roster, up to your league's keeper limit, and you can change them until the keeper deadline, if your commissioner set one.
  • Keepers use draft picks: a kept player takes up one of your picks. By default, your earliest open picks are the ones given up.
  • The next draft: only the open spots get drafted. The draft order is cleared when the league renews, so the commissioner sets it again.
  • Trading picks: in a dynasty league, next season's picks exist as soon as this season's draft finishes, so they can be traded all year long.
  • Budgets: some leagues let teams keep what's left of their waiver budget. In others, it resets to the starting amount.
  • Extra budget: some dynasty leagues add more budget each season (the annual fund injection), either shared equally or weighted toward teams that finished higher or lower in the table.

A redraft league has nothing to carry over. Budgets reset every season, and everyone starts level again.
