Matchups & Standings

Head-to-head weeks, how the schedule works, and how the table is ranked.

Two Ways to Play

Every matchweek, your team earns a score from its starting XI. What that score is worth depends on how your league is set up.

Head-to-head is the classic format. Each matchweek your team faces one opponent and the higher score wins the matchup. A win is worth 3 league points, a draw is worth 1, and a loss is worth 0. Those points determine your standings on the league table.

Cumulative points is the relaxed alternative, and the one the Casual preset uses. Your standing is simply your total fantasy points across the season. No need to worry about winning each individual matchweek; every week keeps adding up.

The Schedule

As soon as the draft completes, the full season's matchup schedule is mapped out automatically. Every team plays every other team in turn, and the cycle repeats to fill the season. Fantasy matchweeks line up with the real competition's matchweeks, so the schedule pauses during breaks in the real calendar, such as international windows. A fantasy league may also start mid-season, so its matchweeks might not start at MW1.

Each week you can watch all of the matchups unfold as the real life fixtures progress and teams earn points.

Breaking Down the Matchweek's Score

Matchweeks are usually pretty straightforward, but there is some nuance worth knowing about:

  • Your team's score is the total of the points your starting XI earned that week.
  • Bench players only count if bench boost is enabled for your league and you've selected it for that matchweek.
  • Scores update live while matches are being played and are replaced by official scores after full time. If a stat is corrected later, such as after a VAR review, the week is re-scored automatically.
  • Double matchweeks: if a club plays twice in one matchweek, a player's score for the week is his single highest-scoring match, not the total of both.
  • Postponed, suspended, abandoned and cancelled matches earn no points. A matchweek isn't complete until every real fixture has been played or called off.

The League Table

The league table is the scoreboard for the whole season. It shows everything from the team's rank, to recent form, to upcoming opponents. Team standings are first determined by league points (win = 3pts, draw = 1pt), but teams will sometimes finish level on league points. Every league has tiebreaker rules set by the commissioner that decide who ranks higher.
