Scoring

Every scoring metric and its points by position, a worked example, and optional bonuses.

From real match to fantasy points

This is the heart of the game. While real fixtures take place, Touchline watches what your players do and turns every contribution into fantasy points for your team. A goal, a tackle, a clean sheet or a goalkeeper's save all score you points and your overall score for the matchweek is the total of the players in your starting lineup.

Every action on the pitch is worth a set number of points depending on your league's settings and a player's position. Below are some examples of how some of the main metrics may differ from position to position.

  • Saves+2.5
  • Clean Sheets+8
  • Tackles Won+3

  • Interceptions+1
  • Duels Won+0.5
  • Clean Sheets+7

Midfielders

  • Duels Won+0.75
  • Successful Dribbles+1

Forwards

  • Goals+6
  • Assists+4
  • Shots on Target+1
  • Successful Dribbles+1

Preset Comparison

Your commissioner will pick one of 3 ready-made scoring styles, or they can build their own custom. Pick a position to see how the Balanced, Explosive and Technical preset systems treat a few key player actions. Custom starts from Balanced, so you can fine-tune from there.

Reading the Numbers

A positive number means the action earns you points, and a negative number takes points away. Some points are fractions, such as half a point per tackle, which add up across a match, so a busy defender can quietly pile up a score.

Positions are valued differently on purpose. A defender who scores is worth more than a forward who scores, because goals are rarer from deeper positions. And a clean sheet, which means a team concedes no goals, only matters to goalkeepers and defenders by default, as do goals conceded.

Optional Bonuses

Commissioners can add some extra spice in a league's scoring settings. These bonuses are all off by default, so check your league's scoring page to see which ones, if any, your league uses.

  • Captain: name one starter each week and their points are multiplied. You'll see a C beside your starters on the Squad page, and the pick locks when that player's club kicks off.
  • Vice-captain: a back-up for your captain. The bonus passes to them only if your captain doesn't play.
  • Bench boost: a limited-use boost that adds your bench's scores to your total for one matchweek.
  • Man of the match: extra points for the highest-rated player in each real match.

Your captain plays

  • CErling Haaland8 pts × 216
  • VCole Palmer6 pts, no bonus6

Your captain doesn't play

  • CErling HaalandDid not play0
  • VCole Palmer6 pts × 1.59
The numbers are made up to show the idea. The captain's points are multiplied when they play. The vice-captain's bonus only applies if the captain doesn't play. Your league's multipliers may differ.
